Hi, I’m Madeline!

My Approach to Therapy

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Austin, Texas. Before joining the world of private practice, I worked with children and adolescents who had experienced sexual trauma, abuse, or had witnessed violence. I consider myself a person-centered therapist, meaning I value the counseling relationship as a place for growth and change. Building trust is key to having clients feel safe and secure enough to make changes in their lives.

Therapeutic frameworks that influence my work:

  • Person-centered

  • Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC)

  • Relational neuroscience

  • Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)

Trauma-informed and attachment-based modalities I incorporate into session:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Play therapy

  • Expressive therapies (play, sand, art)

  • Theraplay® activities

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

  • Body-based work

  • Parts work

A key part of developing trust for me is approaching sessions from a prescriptive lens - meaning I adjust my approach and techniques to match your or your child’s specific needs rather than a “one size fits all” approach.

More about Madeline

I graduated from Texas Christian University in 2015 with my Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Child Development. I relocated to Nashville where I earned my Master’s of Education in Human Development Counseling at Vanderbilt University in 2018. After graduation, I worked at a child advocacy center for over three years and witnessed so much resilience and strength in the clients and families I worked with. I joined a private practice in late 2021 in the Nashville area to expand my experience as a therapist. I’m continuing to work toward my credential as a registered play therapist while receiving continuing education in play therapy, sand tray therapy, and trauma-informed therapy modalities.

I moved to Austin in 2023 after spending most of my 20s in Nashville, Tennessee. As a Texas native, I am thrilled to be back home in the land of fresh tortillas and sunshine! When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and exploring new restaurants. On slower days, you can find me curled up with my pets (cats Fern and Flynn and dog Summer) while watching some reality competition tv shows and keeping up with fun hobbies like embroidery, reading, and cozy gaming.

I believe our relationships with others shape our lives - they help us get through hard times and help us grow into who we are meant to be.
